From 29 May to 1 June 2018 took place, at the “Mario Fiore” barracks in Motta di Livenza, the Female Engagement Team (FET) Course in favor of the Italian Army personnel to be deployed in missions and operations abroad.

The course was organized and conducted by the Multinational CIMIC Group – a joint and multinational Army Unit specialized in Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) - with the aim to provide effective tools to work in team interacting with local female in the crisis area where the Italian Armed Forces are deployed.

Through lessons on communications and negotiation as well as on Gender Perspectives, the students develop the ability to gain the confidence of the local population, interacting with the women side, in order to create the conditions for a cooperation environment necessary to reach the mission objectives.

The teaching staff was consisting of specialized and skilled personnel of the Unit and external contributors, such as Prof Giuliano Lancioni – Roma Tre University – who provided some lectures on cultural awareness.

The course, in addition to the classes, gave the opportunity to the 35 participants coming from different Army Units, to test through several role plays what they learned, replicating some possible scenarios where the Female Engagement Team could be deployed. This is possible also thanks to the several and extensive field experiences of the MNCG personnel.

Multinational CIMIC Group carries out Training & Education activities at international and joint level in cooperation with the Civil-Military Cooperation Centre of Excellence in the Hague, The Netherlands, through a broader range of courses designed and tailored to train and qualify different professional profiles in the Civil Military Cooperation environment, both military and civilian.
