MNCG CONCLUDES THE WORKSHOP “CIMIC CONCEPT IN SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL PLANS”

MNCG is leading the way on civil-military cooperation

Motta di Livenza, 4 September 2025.

Today, at “Mario Fiore” Barracks, the Multinational CIMIC Group concluded the workshop “CIMIC Concept in support of the Regional Plans”, the second session for 2025, which gathered NATO CIMIC representatives and delegates from Allied frontline nations.

For three days, from 2 to 4 September, MNCG provided a unique forum to discuss the role of civil-military cooperation in the implementation of NATO’s Regional Plans, to share experiences, and to further strengthen interoperability between NATO and national CIMIC structures.
The workshop brought together representatives from SHAPE J9, the Joint Force Commands in Naples, Norfolk and Brunssum, LANDCOM, the 1st German-Netherlands Corps, several Multinational Divisions, and NATO Force Structure HQs (ARRC, NRDC-ESP, NRDC-GR, NRDCITA). Delegations from Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia also contributed with their perspective as Allies living daily the challenge of deterrence and resilience.

The discussions allowed participants to consolidate their understanding of CIMIC’s contribution to the Regional Plans and to collectively address the future challenges of civil-military cooperation. In today’s rapidly evolving international environment, the workshop also provided the opportunity to analyze the changing geopolitical landscape and CIMIC’s role in reinforcing NATO cohesion.

The outcomes are fully consistent with the priorities of NATO 2030, emphasizing resilience, civil preparedness, and interoperability. With its multinational and deployable structure, MNCG provided a tangible contribution to turning NATO’s long-term vision into operational practice.
A distinctive strength of MNCG clearly emerged: not only a hub of expertise and a catalyst for ideas, but also a multinational deployable unit, able to bring to the table the concrete lessons learned from real operational theatres. In this way, MNCG complements and enriches the conceptual and doctrinal work developed by other NATO entities, ensuring that civil-military cooperation always remains anchored to operational needs.

Organized by MNCG with the support of major NATO Headquarters, the event also featured stakeholders connected via VTC, further demonstrating the inclusiveness and interconnectivity of the CIMIC community.

The conclusion of the workshop marks another step forward in MNCG’s mission to consolidate its role as a catalyst for ideas, a hub of competence, and a driver of international cooperation.

Once again, from Motta di Livenza a clear message is delivered: MNCG is leading the way on civil-military cooperation.
