SOMALIA: INTENSE ACTIVITY IN SUPPORT OF IDPs

Food distributed to displaced persons in Afgoye district

Somalia, February, 2022.
The climate changes characterized by a major drought and the high level of unemployment cause a continuous migratory flow of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Horn of Africa. Also in this context there is the intervention of the Multinational CIMIC Group operators carried out in the Afgoye district in support of the sudden arrival of 215 families from the city of Las Anod, coming from the Federal State of Somali land. The CIMIC operators deployed in Somalia intervened on the recommendation of the District Commissioner, Abukar Mohamed Omar, and worked to provide 145 packages containing food and water. The quick impact project had an important value in supporting of the local security authorities for the prevention of any clashes between IDPs of Las Anod and the local population.
